Above left: Grandfather conducting a service outside the main entrance to the church. There is a construction date scratched into the mortar on the right but only A.D. 18 is visible. Right: My grandfather in foreground, then Fr. Preshliak who had the parish in in the village Cishky; Fr. Mykytiuk. This was Fr. Mykytiuk's parish in Zabolotsi and the service was for the dead. Father Preshliak died before the end of WWII. Fr. Mykytiuk's daughter Liuba was shot. Above left: Father Mykytiuk at the altar in his church in Zabolotsi. The faith is Greek Catholic and priests were allowed to marry. Right: Carolers came at Christmas, which was celebrated for three days. My sister and I are on the ends of the front row. |
